Recycling Program

Students, staff, and parents of Immaculate Conception School participate yearly in the Multi-Material Stewardship Board’s (MMSB) School Recycling Program called the Green School Routine.    This program is open to schools teaching grades k – 12 and encourages recycling within their school, while at the same time educates students, teachers, parents and the community about the benefits of recycling.

Recycling Statistics

As shown by the statistics below, Immaculate Conception School’s recycling program has been very successful and we strive to continue to increase the amount of beverage containers recycled yearly.

How our program works

Every Friday is Green Day at Immaculate Conception School.  Every student is encouraged to bring in their beverage containers for recycling.  If you participate, your name is entered to win a weekly class prize.

In addition to weekly class prizes, we also have monthly contests.  For example, the contest could be that he class that brings in the most recycling per student will win a swimming party, a skating party, a bowling party, etc.   Some contests will require all classes to work together to reach a certain monthly goal.  If the goal is met, all students will win a party.

Our program has tremendous parent, student, staff and community support.  Our recycling drop box is located outside the school and we encourage members of the community to continue to drop of their beverage containers for recycling in this box or to drop of their beverage containers to the Green Depot as a donation to Immaculate Conception School.
